Entry to the lucky draw closes on 26 April 2026 11.59pm (SGT).
Results will be published on 30 April 2026 (winners will be notified by e-mail).
Pods: There are 12 individual pods in a shared room (females only) and 12 individual pods in a shared room (males only). No breakfast is provided, but many eateries around the area. The Pod Boutique Capsule Hotel : 289 Beach Road, Level 3, Singapore 199552.
Check-in: 2 June 2026 after 3pm
Check-out: 5 June 2026 before 12pm
The hotel is non-smoking. Basic amenities (body and hair shampoo, hair dryer, bed linen and bath towels, free Wi-Fi, luggage storage) are provided. The lucky draw is for accommodation only. Students will still have to bear their own costs for visa, transportation, conference registration, meals, and any other expenses to attend WAS2026.
AWARDS & CONTESTS
Prior to the annual conferences, members of WAS will receive the opportunity to submit entries for a number of awards to further their growth in the aquaculture industry. Additional details of our available contests are listed below.
Student Room Lottery (Free Accommodation): Each year, the Student Activities Committee of the World Aquaculture Society accepts entries for free rooms at the upcoming conference. A call for entries is sent out by e-mail and students simply follow the link provided to submit their name and contact information. The drawing is held 6-8 weeks prior to the conference at which time both male and female winners are notified.
WAS Travel Award: Abstracts are scored prior to the conference by members of the World Aquaculture Society. Student Abstracts are judged on the following criteria: Accuracy and conciseness of title, format, organization, innovativeness of the study, scientific value, broad interest to the aquaculture community, and ability to be understood by those not in the same specific field. Students are invited to compete at the upcoming conference for the Student Spotlight Award.
These three winners will be awarded:
A check for the amount of $600 USD
Registration Reimbursement (student) $250 USD
A certificate of recognition
Placement in the Student Spotlight Competition
Student Spotlight Award: Students with the top three abstract scores (see WAS Travel Award) are invited to prepare and present a mini-presentation at the Student Spotlight Competition. The Plenary Audience will use the conference app to vote for the best presentation.
These three winners will be awarded as follows:
First prize: A check for the amount of $500 USD
Second prize: A check for the amount of $200 USD
Third prize: A check for the amount of $200 USD
Best Oral and Poster Presentations: The WAS Best Presentation and Poster Presentation Awards reward and recognize WAS student members for excellence in presentation. Student members of WAS giving oral and poster presentations will be eligible for the Best Oral Presentation and Best Poster Presentation Awards. Students will be judged during the conference and winners will be announced after the conference. To be eligible for this award you must be a current WAS student member when you submit an abstract. Presentations are judged on the following criteria: Scientific and research value, management and application potential, scope, oral presentation of study and results, audio-visual presentation, clarity and conciseness, accuracy of title, stimulation of intelligent discussion and handling of questions.

Second prize: A check for the amount of $800 USD
Best Poster Presentation:
First prize: A check for the amount of $1000 USD
